OUR MAGAZINE
Where do you go for inspiration when you are looking for somewhere to go?
If you are thinking about living and working or retiring overseas but not sure how to go about it or even which country you want to relocate to then you are exactly where I was ten years ago. Finally after a seven year search I found a new country to call home and settled there with my two young children and retiree parents.
The search was arduous and frustrating. Before spending time and money traveling to places on reconnaissance missions there were certain things I wanted to know before I went. Using a combination of resources available I acquired some, but by no means all of the answers I was looking for.
There were numerous specialized glossy magazines on the shelves but they were full of advertisements and glowing location reports written by real estate agents. Whilst informative up to a point they did not contain the whole story.
The internet was an obvious port of call but as I did not have a definite destination in mind and enough time to wade through the glut of useless information and sales pitches I found this resource of limited value.
I purchased a number of well known country guide books and although the facts and figures were all there, these guides lacked the richness and readability of well written articles and in many cases were actually out of date by two or more years.
Now, three years on and very happy in my chosen destination I am delighted to be involved in the creation of Before You Go. This is the publication I would have loved to have been available when I was searching for my new home.
Full of in depth articles written by established expatriates, adventure travelers and experts in the field of business and finance it is both inspiring and informative.
For added interest there are articles on fascinating cultures and customs from around the world that, if you are anything like me, you will be curious to learn more about.
I hope you enjoy the magazine as much as I love being involved with it. I am keen to hear your comments, complaints, kudos and questions so we can be sure to deliver what you want to know Before You Go.
